On Sunday, House Speaker Steve Scalise was questioned several times during an interview on whether he believed the 2020 election was “stolen” from former President Donald Trump. This happened while Scalise was defending countries seeking electoral reform laws.
Scalise made the remarks on “Fox News Sunday” with host Chris Wallace.

Wallace To Scalise: ‘So You Think The Election Was Stolen?’
Wallace said to Scalise, “Do you think that the 2020 elections were rigged in Donald Trump? And by saying this – not with the countries that change the elections, but especially saying that the elections were rigged – do you think this hurts, undermines American democracy?”
Scalise replied, “Chris, I have heard from the beginning. If you look at a number of countries, they have not followed the rules set by the government that govern presidential elections.”
“This is what the United States Constitution says,” Scalise continued. “It simply does not claim that countries are compliant with its policies. He claims that state legislatures enforce the law. And in a number of countries, they have not been able to comply. ”

Wallace replied, “But all countries have proven it.”
Scalise replied, “Well, but at the end of the day, should we follow the Constitution or not? I hope we will get back to what the Constitution says. But it is clear that in a number of countries, they have not followed the Constitution.”
Wallace then asked Scalise, “So you think the election has been rigged?”
Scalise responded, “What I have said is that there are countries that have not adhered to established laws. That is what the United States Constitution says. And I think there are a lot of people who want us to get back to what the Constitution is supposed to do, not just elections, and so on. some people who just want to ignore what the Constitution says and do what they want. ”

Wallace also asked his question, “I think the question is – last time, I promise – do you think the elections were rigged or not? I understand you think there were some irregularities and other issues that needed to be addressed.
“It’s the countries that didn’t follow the law,” Scalise replied. “When you see countries like Georgia cleaning up some of the problems with people who call Jim Crow a law, that’s a lie.”
